Photos of Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika's twins have emerged months after giving birth while on maternity leave in the United States.

In the images, Kihika is seen cradling the twins alongside her husband, Sam Mburu.

The Governor is dressed in a flowing white outfit, while Mburu sports a blue-patterned shirt and white trousers.

The photo was first shared by Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi, who extended warm congratulations to the couple.

"Congratulations, my brother Sam Mburu, for the effort and the new generation," Sudi wrote.

"May this double blessing fill your lives with boundless love, laughter, and wonder."

Head of Creative Economy and Special Projects in the Office of the President Dennis Itumbi also celebrated the moment, sending the couple well wishes for the journey ahead.

Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai joined in, writing: “Congratulations, Governor Susan Kihika and my brother and friend Sam Mburu, on the joyful arrival of your twins! Wishing your family endless love and happiness.”

News of the birth was initially made public last month by nominated Senator Veronica Maina during a media briefing.

She, alongside other women leaders, called on Kenyans to avoid cyber bullying and celebrated Kihika's new role as a mother.

“As women leaders of Kenya, we stand here today in solidarity with Governor Susan Kihika, a dedicated public servant and a mother who has recently welcomed twins into the world. We congratulate her on the birth of her children. They are a blessing from God, and we give thanks,” read the statement.
