The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has resumed Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) and launched a month-long Enhanced Continuous Voter Registration (ECVR) exercise in five electoral areas across the country.
In a gazette notice dated June 23, 2026, IEBC Chairperson Erastus Ethekon announced that the enhanced voter registration exercise will run from June 25 to July 25, 2026.
The areas targeted include Mbeere North Constituency, Porro Ward in Samburu West Constituency, Endo Ward in Marakwet East Constituency, Emurua Dikirr Constituency and Malava Constituency.
"Following the conduct of by-elections and the determination of election petitions in Malava and Mbeere North constituencies, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission gives notice that there will be enhanced continuous voter registration of voters from Thursday, 25th June, 2026 to Saturday, 25th July, 2026 in the specified electoral areas," Ethekon said in the notice.
The exercise will be conducted at ward level, constituency offices, Huduma Centres, institutions of higher learning within the affected electoral areas and at the Commission's Customer Experience Centre located at Anniversary Towers in Nairobi.
During the registration period, eligible Kenyan citizens aged 18 years and above who possess a valid national identity card or Kenyan passport will be able to register as voters, transfer their registration to another electoral area, update or correct their registration details and verify their voter registration status.
According to the commission, registration services under the ECVR programme will be available daily from Monday to Sunday throughout the exercise.
The electoral agency further directed that voters seeking to transfer their registration should visit the IEBC constituency office in their preferred electoral area, while those wishing to update or correct their details should do so at the constituency office where they are currently registered.
Ethekon also announced that Continuous Voter Registration and regular revision of the register of voters will continue after the enhanced exercise concludes.
"Voters are further notified that upon conclusion of the ECVR exercise, Continuous Voter Registration and regular revision of the Register of Voters will continue at the respective constituency offices from Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays, from 8.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.," he said.
The commission noted that voter registration services at Huduma Centres will continue beyond the ECVR period and will only be suspended through a formal notice issued by the IEBC.
However, the commission clarified that Continuous Voter Registration and revision of the voters' register will not be undertaken in Ol Kalou Constituency during the period of the ongoing by-election.
