Kenyans on Thursday held memorial activities across Nairobi and other parts of the country to honor victims who lost their lives during the anti–Finance Bill protests of June 2024.

The commemorations drew activists, families of victims, and members of the public who gathered to remember those killed during the protests that culminated in the storming of Parliament on June 25, 2024.

Along Parliament Road, mourners laid flowers on razor-wire barricades erected by security agencies, transforming the heavily guarded area into a temporary memorial site.

Tensions were evident in some areas after plain-clothes police officers arrested activists along Parliament Road during the commemorative demonstrations.

Despite the heavy security presence, many participants carried flowers, placards, and messages commemorating the victims, while others observed moments of silence in their memory.
