Police are investigating the death of Kenya Forest Service (KFS) Legal Services Manager Esther Wairimu Keige, whose body was found in a coffee plantation in Juja, Kiambu County.
The 54-year-old advocate went missing on June 10, 2026, after leaving her office along Kiambu Road.
Juja Sub-County Police Commander Isaac Kombo said the body was discovered on Monday at Area 4 near Karimenu in Juja.
Wairimu's brother also confirmed that her body had been found.
Investigators said the body was intact but had already begun decomposing.
Two family members visited the scene and positively identified the remains.
The body was moved to the Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital mortuary pending a post-mortem examination to establish the cause of death.
Students from a local school told police they had recently seen Wairimu alive at the school, where she was reportedly seeking help to find food before her body was discovered.
Police said they have recorded statements from family members as part of efforts to establish her movements, state of mind and the circumstances leading to her disappearance.
According to police, the body was found at about 5pm on Monday by a worker who was cutting grass at Fusion Farm in the Kiaora area.
The worker reportedly spotted the body lying in shrubs and alerted his supervisor, who reported the matter to Juja Police Station.
Senior police officers visited the scene and found the woman's body in an advanced state of decomposition.
Police said investigations are ongoing to establish the cause of death and the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Keige had been missing since June 10.
In a notice on Monday, June 15, KFS issued a public appeal seeking information on Keige's after she was reported missing.
The agency said Keige was a Manager in the Legal Services department.
KFS expressed concern over her whereabouts and called on members of the public to assist with any information that may help locate her.
It urged anyone who may have seen or interacted with her to report to the nearest police station or contact the provided hotline numbers.
