The government has called for calm following allegations of rape in Ol Kalou, urging anyone with credible evidence to submit it to investigative agencies to facilitate thorough investigations and legal action.
Government Spokesperson Isaac Mwaura said individuals with information relating to the alleged rape cases or any other criminal offences should present it to law enforcement agencies to ensure justice is served.
"Any person with evidence relating to the alleged rape cases or any other criminal offences should submit it to the relevant authorities to enable investigations and ensure justice is served," Mwaura said during a press conference on Monday.
He cautioned against using the allegations to inflame public emotions or spread unverified claims, stressing that investigative agencies should be allowed to discharge their constitutional mandate independently and professionally.
On July 1, Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen challenged former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to present to the police the names of women he claims were raped during the Ol Kalou by-election, warning against using unverified allegations for political mileage.
Murkomen said any claims of sexual violence must be formally reported to enable investigations and prosecution of those responsible.
The CS was responding to Gachagua's claim that 68 women were raped during the by-election and that the alleged perpetrators were police officers.
"I heard Mr Rigathi Gachagua saying he is on record of 68 women who were raped, and he says that they were raped by police officers," Murkomen said.
"I want to dare Mr Gachagua, if you are truly a father who has children...you cannot play politics with the 68 lives of women,"
Mwaura also warned against incitement and the spread of misinformation, saying such actions could undermine peace, public order and national stability.
He reiterated the government's commitment to ensuring that all reported crimes are investigated in accordance with the law.
The government Spokesman urged Kenyans to embrace national unity, dismissing claims that any region had been sidelined in the distribution of development projects.
He said every part of the country has a stake in the Kenya Kwanza administration and should work together to advance the country's development agenda.
According to Mwaura, the government has appointed leaders from diverse communities and regions, reflecting its commitment to inclusivity and national cohesion.
He said the administration has invested in infrastructure, affordable housing, digital connectivity and economic empowerment programmes across the country, including areas that have historically been marginalised.
Mwaura added that major government investments have reached counties in Northern Kenya, the Coast, Eastern, Western and the Mount Kenya region as part of efforts to promote equitable development.
He urged leaders and citizens to resolve political differences through dialogue, saying Kenya's progress depends on unity, collaboration and shared prosperity.
