Bilateral trade turnover between Russia and Namibia almost doubled in 2024, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Trutnev said at the meeting with Namibia's Foreign Minister Selma Ashipala-Musavyi in the African country's capital Windhoek on Tuesday.
"The friendship between our countries continues to develop within the framework of the work of the Intergovernmental Russian-Namibian Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation. We have been able to achieve impressive results. In 2024, an almost twofold increase in bilateral trade turnover was recorded," the Russian deputy prime minister noted.
Russia expects the Namibian partners to promptly implement the plans outlined at the December meeting of the intergovernmental commission, said the Russian official, who is co-chair of the commission.
"We will develop relations between our countries and are waiting for proposals from the Namibian side to hold the Intergovernmental Russian-Namibian Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation. Our countries have long maintained friendly relations, and Russia will remain a reliable friend of Namibia in the future," Trutnev emphasized.
