Top priority sector for African countries
According to the Mo Ibrahim Foundation’s Financing Africa 2024 Report, education emerges as the top priority sector for African countries, representing 21.6% of the focus.
This is followed closely by climate change and "other" sectors, each accounting for 18.6%.
Health and security both stand at 12.4%, highlighting the importance of social well-being and stability across the continent.
Infrastructure, a critical driver of economic growth, is prioritized at 9.3%, while energy makes up 7.2% of the focus.
This distribution reflects the diverse challenges facing African nations, with the emphasis on education showcasing the continent’s dedication to improving human capital.
