In the first quarter of the 2024/2025 fiscal year, Kenyan county governments collectively spent Sh97.2 million on foreign travel. Notably, officials from 31 counties did not undertake any foreign trips during this period.
This expenditure is part of the broader fiscal activities reported by the Controller of Budget, which indicated that total county government expenditures amounted to Sh55.68 billion in the same quarter, representing 10% of the annual county budgets.
The report also highlighted that recurrent expenditure stood at Sh48.96 billion, accounting for 13% of the annual recurrent budget.
This reflects a decline from the 18% reported in the first quarter of the previous financial year, where recurrent expenditure was Sh60.56 billion.
