Lawyers Cliff Ombeta, Shadrack Wambui. and Danstan Omari arrive at the Shanzu Law Courts.

Embattled Pastor Ezekiel Odero's lawyers have claimed they have not been paid.

Lawyers Danstan Omari and Cliff Ombetta have attributed the delayed payments to Ezekiel's frozen accounts.

"Mawakili hawajalipwa, lakini tumesimama kwa wima, wakona imani kua ni jukumu ya mawakili kuteta wa dini ya kiKristo," Omari said.

(The lawyers have not been paid, but we are keeping calm and staying strong, we have faith that our mandate as lawyers is to defend our client)

Omari said all the 15 frozen bank accounts of Ezekiel are in Mombasa, adding that the church activities are currently at a standstill due to a lack of funds.

"The government has frozen all the bank accounts associated with Pastor Ezekiel, including that of his wife, children, and school he manages," Omari claimed.

The lawyer said his client does not have a foreign account and there shouldn't have been an order to freeze his accounts in Nairobi.

"While we were busy working on our case in Mombasa, the DCI went behind our backs and obtained a court order freezing the accounts of Pastor Ezekiel in Nairobi," Ombetta claimed.

On May 4, Ezekiel filed a petition in court seeking to block the state from freezing his bank accounts.

He also asked the court to stop the government from excess and unilateral decisions that affect his church, school, restaurant and other businesses at the 65-acre parcel of land in Mavueni, Kilifi County.
