Kenya Medical Practitioners Pharmacists Dentists Union officials have met with doctors in Eldoret and declared that there is no turning back on the ongoing strike.

The officials led by secretary general Dr Davji Atellah said nothing would stop the strike until the government meets all demands they have tabled.

Dr Atellah claimed some governors were withdrawing salaries for doctors to intimidate them saying the move would not work.

"To the governors who are playing public relations with healthcare, we are telling them just keep the money. We will not be intimidated at all", Dr Atellah said.

Dr Atella said the doctors had issued 19 demands to the government before the strike but claimed none of the issues had been addressed.

"They are now watering down the CBA we are fighting for," he said.

Dr Atellah said the doctors' would remain on strike and it was up to the government to take care of suffering patients in hospitals.

The medics insisted that much of what they were fighting for was for the benefit of Kenyans and not the doctors.

Dr Atellah said the delayed CBA of 2017 must be implemented and talks for a new one to start before they resume work.

"We are in this strike as long as the government wants us to be in it. There was nothing the government would do to stop the strike and not even intimidation or sack threats would scare the doctors," he said.

"We have met the doctors and lecturers who are members of KMPDU and they have declared they will remain on strike."

Dr Atellah said doctors countrywide would remain on strike until the government agrees to their demands.
