Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua now claims MPs are being offered Sh5 million to support an impeachment Motion against him.
Addressing a roadside rally in Mwea, Gachagua claimed Kirinyaga Woman Representative Njeri Maina and area Senator James Murango were offered the cash but declined.
“Njeri was told to take Sh5 million, but she refused. Senator James Murango was also offered cash, but he declined," the DP alleged.
Gachagua further told his critics to stop instigating the impeachment.
"If he's tired with Mt Kenya votes, let him tell us. We took him as our own and voted for him earnestly. He should stop telling the MPs to kick us out of office," he added.
"I was elected by the people of Kenya, not by the president. Both the president and I were elected on one ticket, and you chose Ruto because I was there.”
Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa has announced his intention to move the motion and even claimed that the 116-signature threshold has already been met.
The legislator has exuded confidence that the motion he will table before Parliament is water-tight and has already received overwhelming support from MPs from across the political divide.
Barasa claimed he already secured 242 supporting signatures, adding that the number could rise during the weekend.
A motion to impeach the Deputy President requires the signatures of at least 116 members of the National Assembly.
The motion must, however, garner the support of at least 233 MPs in the National Assembly for it to sail through to the Senate.
A section of Kenya Kwanza legislators have accused the DP of leveraging on the recent Gen Z demonstrations to overthrow President William Ruto.
Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga has, however, warned that "for every action, there will be a reaction.
