Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has congratulated Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump on his re-election as the 47th President of the US.

This comes even as the election has not officially been called.

In a statement, Gachagua described his victory as the biggest political comeback of a generation.

He went on to say that it is also proof of his reliance and the spirit of not giving up.

The former DP said that such an attitude will always remove obstacles on the path to his destiny.

“Congratulations President Donald Trump, for one of the greatest political come-backs of our generation. Your victory is clear proof that resilience and a never-say-die attitude will always TRUMP obstacles on the path to your destiny. God Bless You. God Bless America,” Gachagua said on X.

He is among other leaders in the country who have also taken time to congratulate Trump even as he is headed for a second and final run at the White House.

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has also congratulated Trump, saying that Americans have placed their trust in his ideas and leadership.

He also wished him success as he leads Americans.

“I extend my congratulations to President-Elect Donald Trump on your election as 47th President of the United States of America,” he said.

“I wish you every success and look forward to working with you.”

Kalonzo then called on the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to borrow from the US elections.

“Over 150 million Americans voted in the historic November 5, election, and their votes were counted, tallied and announced in less than 24 hours. I believe Kenya, and in particular the IEBC can learn from the United States about how to conduct a free, fair, and credible election,” he said.

Trump is projected to win the US election even though the polls have not been officially called.

The projections indicate that he has already crossed the 270 mark.

World leaders have been sending their congratulatory messages to Trump.

They include Prime Ministers Keir Starmer (UK), Narendra Modi (India), Abiy Ahmed (Ethiopia), Denys Shmyhal (Ukraine), and Benjamin Netanyahu (Israel).

Presidents Emmanuel Macron (France), German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, European Union President Ursula von der Leyen and Ukraine's Volodymyr Zelensky, among others.
