Security has been beefed up around the Parliament Buildings ahead of President William Ruto's State of the Nation address.

The President is expected to deliver his speech in Parliament at 3 pm.

Police officers and security agencies have been deployed in key areas surrounding the Parliament, with roadblocks and access restrictions in place to ensure the event runs smoothly.

The State of the Nation address is an obligation of the Constitution that requires Ruto to update Parliament on three key issues, among them national security.

Ruto's address is expected to outline the government’s achievements over the past year address key national issues and unveil future plans. 

The President is also obligated to appraise the legislature on all the measures taken by his administration and the progress achieved in the realisation of the national values.
