Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua held a meeting with a section of leaders from the Maa community at his Wamunyoro residence in Nyeri County on Monday.
In a statement via his official X and Facebook accounts, the former DP stated that the meeting focused on issues affecting the Maasai community and the entire nation.
"We move forward to a better and equal Kenya as a people. I continue to listen to and engage all stakeholders and opinion shapers on what the best one nation deserves, especially at a time like now when we are on the presipice of an economic, social, and political nosedive," Gachagua said.
"Today at my Wamunyoro residence, Nyeri County, I spent the whole day with Maa leaders from Kajiado and Narok counties."
The former DP commended the leaders for "their immense knowledge and patriotism for our motherland."
“This afternoon, I hosted a delegation of Elders from Kajiado West that had accompanied Engineer Dickson Ntikoisa to come to see me at our Wamunyoro Residence. During our discussions, we revisited the close ties the Maa Community has had with Mt Kenya communities, including the various moments they have worked together going way back to before independence,” Gachagua said.
On January 7, 2025, the former DP also hosted the Kikuyu Council of Elders, where he said he had an opportunity to continue consulting and listening to the elders.
“These senior elders, mainly county chairs and county patrons drawn from various counties, shared with me their ideas of what they think are the priorities for the year 2025 and the options they see facing our community, especially as regards political direction and social integration,” Gachagua disclosed.
The meetings come even as reports reveal that the former Deputy President will launch his party in early February as he lays the groundwork for the 2027 general elections.
The former DP's allies have confirmed that plans to unveil the political vehicle are complete as Gachagua seeks to affirm his influence in national politics.
He also wants to consolidate his Mount Kenya heartland, which has become furiously restive since his removal from office.
Former Laikipia Woman Representative Catherine Waruguru said the party to be unveiled next month has blue as one of its corporate colours.
"We are ready, and the party will be unveiled next month,'' Waruguru said.
Embakasi North MP James Gakuya also confirmed that plans are almost complete to unveil Gachagua's political vehicle ''in the next few weeks.
"The People's Deputy President will soon, in the next few weeks, launch the party that will shake the country's political landscape,'' Gakuya told the Star.
