Deputy President Kithure Kindiki now says that growing the manufacturing and industry sectors will accelerate Kenya’s transformation into a first-world country.

According to Kindiki, the President William Ruto-led administration has invested heavily in terms of resources and time in value chains critical to transforming the country from its current state.

He noted that these value chains include areas where the majority of Kenyans get their livelihoods, especially in Agriculture, among other areas.

“Growing manufacturing and industry is one of the engines that will take our country from the third world to first world country in the shortest time possible.

“The Kenya Kwanza administration continues to invest significant resources to transform key value chains critical to transforming our country and also the value chains where most people in Kenya derive their livelihoods. In Agriculture, livestock, fisheries, blue economy and mining,” Kindiki said.

The Deputy President spoke at the Mumias Sugar Complex Grounds in Kakamega county.

He accompanied the president in launching the first-ever payment of bonuses to sugarcane farmers in Mumias, Kakamega County.

He reiterated the government’s commitment to making this transformation a reality for all.

Kindiki added that he is confident that the country is on the right trajectory to deliver the promises made to Kenyans during campaigns in 2022.

“Your Excellency, we are on the right trajectory towards Kenya's transformation in accordance with the vision you and your administration have for Kenya.”

Some 15,846 farmers drawn from Kakamega, Busia, Bungoma and Siaya counties received bonuses worth Sh150 million.

Kindiki also highlighted other interventions the government is making in the economy and social sector to accelerate the development of Kenya.

The DP said they include Macroeconomic stability, investing in the housing programme to enhance the kind of housing people of Kenya live in, and creating a few more jobs, as well as supporting the manufacturing industry.

He added that the government is also focusing on the infrastructure that supports value chain development, and social reforms, especially in the Health and Education sectors.

“These seven areas constitute the Seven Golden Keys that will push Kenya from where we are today, to the most desired place of the first world in the shortest time possible.”
