NYS announces 387 job vacancies in Israel

The National Youth Service has announced job openings in Israel for NYS graduates.

In the notice released on Friday, qualified NYS graduates who wish to apply for the jobs which include 80 vacancies for construction carpenters, 80 for steel fixers, 50 for plasterers, 40 for heavy machinery operators, 30 for plumbers and 20 for electricians.

The available vacancies also include 50 for tile masons, 10 vacancies for Civil Engineers/Civil foreman, eight for foreman - carpentry, eight for foreman - steel Fixing, six for Foreman - Plastering and five for foreman masonry.

Successful applicants will be paid between Sh250,000 and Sh350,000 basic pay.

The cost of travel, Visa, pre-departure training cost and medical examination cost will be borne by the applicant.

"This will be an ongoing process with the first group expected to start the process from Tuesday, January 28, 2025," Senior Spretendent Samson Kiptum said on behalf of the Commandant General.

Kiptum said candidates meeting the job requirements will be contacted for practical tests (interviews) at the National Youth Service Engineering Institute in groups beginning January 28, 2025.

According to the notice, successful construction workers will be required to work for a period of 63 months( equivalent to exactly five years and three months).

They will be required to work at least 236 hours (in a full work month) six days a week Sunday to Friday (Sunday to Thursday is full day, Friday is a half day), Saturday is a resting day.

They will be required to work for up to 12 hours for a full day and up to eight hours for half day.

The basic hourly wage will be 32.30 New Israeli Shekels, roughly Sh1,116.

They will also be entitled to overtime, housing provided by the company, and monthly deductions as per Israel labour laws.

Transportation, personal and work equipment and height work and safety training will be provided by the employer, while sick leave will be according to Israel labour law.
