Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo has laughed off the idea of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party joining former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua's camp

While responding to a question on any possibility of them joining the former DP's camp, the legislator described it as the most laughable thing she ever heard of.

Millie went on to say that asking ODM or former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s team to join Gachagua is like asking an ocean to join a river.

She, however, noted that the former DP is free to join the Orange party should he want to.

“That is the most laughable thing I have ever heard. We join Gachagua or Gachagua join us? Raila Amollo Odinga, the enigma, the movement. How can you ask the ocean to join a river? Are you serious? He can join us if he wants to but it can’t be otherwise. Raila is a movement,” the MP said on K24 TV.

Since his ouster, Gachagua has been meeting various leaders, including those who have been opponents over possible partnerships ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He has so far reached out to People’s Liberation Party (PLP) leader Martha Karua and her Wiper counterpart Kalonzo Musyoka.

He was recently seen at the launch of the DAP-K party headquarters in Karen as well. Gachagua continues to hold the meetings he refers to as consultative.

Millie Odhiambo said that they are currently focused on ensuring that Raila wins the African Union Commission chairmanship elections that will be held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, this weekend.

The Suba North MP added that a loss is not their focus right now and that should Raila lose the seat, they will think about the next steps after that.

“Right now we are not interested in whether Raila is winning or not. When we go into things, we go with a focus to win. Should he not win we will deal with that after but right now all our energy and effort is we are sure he is winning.”
