Deputy President Kithure Kindiki will now take charge of inspecting government projects before are officially launched.

Speaking on Tuesday, Kindiki said this will guard President William Ruto from the attacks directed at him over the launch of incomplete projects.

He said that by doing this, he will also ensure there are finances to have the projects complete before the President is engaged in the commissioning.

“I will be leading inspection of government projects before they are launched or commissioned. We must guard against ridicule directed at the President for projects launched and are not commenced or completed.

“Before the President is engaged, I'll make sure we have end-to-end financing to avoid embarrassing the President,” Kindiki said.

He made the remarks at his official residence in Karen, where he hosted Meru County elected and grassroots leaders, professionals, and economic sector stakeholders for a consultative engagement on priority development projects and implementation of National and County government programmes.

The DP further told off those who have been criticizing the road project between Isiolo and Mandera counties that the government is undertaking.

He said there are at least 11 contractors on the long road some Kenyans have been making fun of online and once it is ready in two and a half years, they will have nothing to say.

Kindiki the state is focused on having the road completed on time and it will soon open up the region for economic transformation.

“Some are making fun of the huge road project we are constructing between Isiolo and Mandera. This is a massive project that will be completed in the next two and half years. You can make fun of it to be applauded online but we are focused because it will be the same road we will be using to explain to the people there what have done for them.

“We already have 11 contractors on site and soon that part of the country will be opened up for economic transformation,” he said.

The Deputy President said some of those making fun of the road do not even know where it is or where the places mentioned are.

Kindiki’s remarks are in response to a section of social media users who made a video mocking President Ruto after he mentioned several towns along the road between Isiolo and Mandera will connect.
