Prime Cabinet Secretary and Foreign and Diaspora Affairs CS Musalia Mudavadi hosted Hungary’s ambassador to Kenya Zsolt Meszaros at his office on Friday.
During the meeting, the two explored opportunities to strengthen collaboration between Kenya and Hungary in mutually beneficial areas.
The mutually beneficial areas include trade, investment opportunities, education, and energy.
The CS noted that both agreed to expand Kenya’s engagement with Hungary, ascertaining that it would benefit Kenyans and Hungarians.
Mudavadi recognised the efforts Hungary has made in trying out seed varieties in the agricultural sector in Kenya, assessing its success under Kenya’s climatic conditions.
“Acknowledged Hungary’s partnership including in an agricultural demo farm in Kirinyaga County conducting trials on seed varieties and their adaptability to Kenya's climatic conditions,” Mudavadi said.
In January, President William Ruto travelled to the United Arab Emirates for a two-day Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW).
The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation in energy, trade, investment, and technology with key global leaders including the UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
The ADSW Summit is a high-level forum that convenes world leaders to advance the global sustainability agenda.
The forum was used to simplify export procedures, enhance market access for trade in services and stimulate increased investments from the UAE across several sectors.
The UAE is Kenya's sixth-largest export destination and a key market for tea, meat products, fruits, vegetables, and flowers.
The President’s visit to the United Arab Emirates came after Mudavadi left the country to the UAE for bilateral meetings and the signing of the long-awaited Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) deal.
