President William Ruto has arrived at Sagana State Lodge ahead of his five-day tour of Mt Kenya development tour, which starts on April 1.

President Ruto is expected to later on Monday night participate in a live TV interview with a local station, targeting the Mt Kenya audience.

In a video shared online by state-affiliated bloggers on Monday evening, President Ruto is seen interacting with locals on the Sagana Road amid a chilling weather that is synonymous with the slopes of Mt Kenya.

"I will be here for five days, are you ready? Have you prepared? President Ruto was heard asking a group of youths who sought his audience as he was being driven to the State lodge.

The president also asked about a maize roaster around Sagana State lodge, a man who sold him roasted maize when he toured Mt Kenya in 2023.

"Where is that man with good roasted maize? I will check on him," Ruto said as residents informed him that the man is around.

The president is due to meet a section of elected leaders from Mt Kenya region at Sagana State Lodge during his five-day tour later this week.

The Sagana State Lodge is located a few kilometres from the Wamunyoro residence of his former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Ruto's decision to be driven in rather than fly is sending a political message to his critics that he does not fear them.

As Ruto headed to his backyard, Gachagua stormed Wangige market in Kiambu county, accompanied by his allies.

During the impromptu visit that caught security officers unawares, Gachagua called on Mt Kenya people to demand that President Ruto showcase the projects that he has implemented since assuming office.
