Kenya's Muqtadir Nimji is set to battle Egypt's Seif Elshernawy in a Squash Federation of Africa Seniors Championships 2022 in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe this afternoon.

Nimji beat compatriot James Dalidi 3-1 (11-5, 13-11, 7-11, 11-4) in the second round.

Dalidi had beaten Preston Muhamga of Zambia 3-0 (11-6,11-6,11-8) in the first round while Muqtadir registered a 3-0 (11-6, 11-6, 11-8) against Shingirai Musondwa of Botswana.

Meanwhile, coach Prince Mukuka revealed that Ilyaseen Nimji, the only junior in the team, fell to Yassin Elshafei of Egypt. 

Mukuka added: "Bruce Jusa was feeling unwell and could, therefore, not honour his match against Nigeria's Adegoke Onaopemipo of Nigeria in the second round."

Despite all, Mukuka said he is proud of his team's performances, now that this is their debut at the Africa Seniors Championships.

The team of four finished fourth in the team playoffs in the tournament that started on Saturday.

Egypt won the team title ahead of South Africa while Nigeria were third.
