Team Kenya at the ongoing Commonwealth Youth Games in Trinidad and Tobago recorded mixed results in their respective opening campaigns.

Cub Lionesses, the national women’s rugby 7s team beat Wales 20-12  in their opening match of Pool 'A' on Sunday.

In the swimming arena, Sarah Mose won Heat Three of the girls' 50m butterfly event while Akier Mutinda achieved a personal best in the same category.

The Kenyan Beach Volleyball duo of Abigail Chebet and Sharon Jepkogei extended their winning streak to two after a 2-0 win over hosts Trinidad and Tobago. The Kenyan girls won the opening match 2-0 against Bermuda. The win against the hosts secured them a spot in the quarter-finals.

In Individual super sprint distance, Kenyan athletes Iman Maria and Abdul Bagha showcased their mettle in a fiercely competitive field.

Iman Maria secured the 20th spot with a time of 44:09, while Abdul Bagha finished 24th, clocking an impressive 38:14 minutes.
