Bunyore Starlets tactician Timothy Ondeko has blamed injuries to key players for Sunday's 4-2 defeat to Vihiga Queens at Mumboha grounds, Vihiga county.

Tumaini Walioula scored two goals while Diana Cherono and Martha Karani added one each for the champions while Noel Shilachilo struck a brace for Bunyore.

“We have several injuries in the camp. We even forced some players onto the pitch even though they were not fit,” Ondeko said.

“We also missed the services of Airin Madaline, who is currently with the Harambee Starlets. We need to work on our depth."

Ondeko also believes lack of precision in the final third was also to blame since his players good not make the numerous chances created count.

He also promised to work on his defence, whom he believes were guilty of mistakes that led to the high number of goals conceded.

Meanwhile, Vihiga Queens coach Boniface Nyamunyamu acknowledged progress, especially after leaving the reverse fixture with just a point.

Elsewhere, Madira Soccer Assassins extended their winning streak, beating Bungoma Queens 2-1. Jane Hato and Charity Midewa scored a goal each for Madira as Catherine Khaemba replied with a consolation for Bungoma Queens.

Bungoma Queens head coach Robert Machiwa said he was targeting revenge after Madira beat them twice in Division One, but his desires never materialised.

“I am not surprised. They beat us home and away in Division One. We wanted revenge but, unfortunately, we have lost to them again,” Machiwa said.
