The Kenya Bunge basketball team was on Tuesday awarded three points after their South Sudan competitors failed to show up for a scheduled match in the ongoing EAC inter-parliamentary games.

The walkover victory now gives Kenya a confident boost as head into their next match against Uganda on Wednesday.

Konoin MP Brighton Yegon, who is the team’s captain said the win boosts their morale as prepare to for the next game.

Bungoma Senator David Wakoli, a key player for the Kenyan team, has expressed optimism about their chances of winning the tournament.

"We are confident and focused our goal is clear to bring home the gold medal and show the region that Kenya is a force to be reckoned with in basketball," he said.

Speaking after the team was awarded the walkover Kenyan head coach Zadock said that the team has prepared extensively in readiness for the games.

The games entered the fourth day Tuesday.

On Monday, Kenya retained the persistent sprint to excellence raising the trophy in the highly competitive men's 4x100 metres relay race.

Reeling from a major win against Uganda in the opener men volleyball match, the Kenyan men tag of war team, the women 100 metres sprint team and the 4x100 metres men relay race team put a remarkable performance that put the tempo of the ongoing games at a fever pitch.

The Kenyan men’s relay team captained by overall Bunge Sports Club chairperson Vincent Kawaya (Mwala), put up a spirited run for the coveted title.

Several members of the winning Kenyan team said the team-spirit, dedicated training and genuine dedication to team victory carried the day.

The Kenyan victory was followed by a remarkable excitement coloured in song and dance, reminiscent of earlier victories by the Kenyan teams.

In the women 100 metres race, Busia County Catherine Omanyo, emerged second in the 100 metres women race.

The Busia County MP attributed her success to the resilience of the Kenyan team, the tacticians, trainers and upbeat cheating spirit of the Kenyan teams.

The climax of the day was theme tug-of-war face off, against Uganda where the fortitude of the team and the glue of the shared muscle of dedication tilted the scales in Kenya's favour to a remarkable salute of respect, coloured in song and dance.
