Joseph Sandagi is the new Kenya University Sports Federation (KUSF) Western Conference chairman.
He garnered three votes, outgoing chairman Shishoka Akaka had two while Caleb Nyangwono got just one.
The elections were presided over by Brian Muga, the Kisumu County Director of Youth and Sports.
Secretary Abraham Ong’ong’a and treasurer David Obungu retained their seats unopposed.
Micheal Kisaghii bagged the Nairobi North chairmanship. He had eight votes against Caroline Ajowi’s one.
William Opanda was elected secretary unopposed and Hilda Indasi treasurer. Indasi had six votes to beat Moses Ondeng’ (two) and Asher Angila (one).
In Nairobi South, Maurice Onyango was elected chairman. He had six votes against Joseph Ndiku’s two.
David Maccan had five votes to bag the secretary’s seat, beating Francis Karugu, Kelvin Mbithi and Wycliffe Sirengo (one vote each).
Judith Kinoti bagged the treasurer’s seat with six votes against Pauline Njeru’s two.
The stage is now set for the KUSF national elections to be held at Kabarak University on November 21.
Four candidates have been cleared to contest for the presidency.
They are Bonfas Salano, Alfred Rono, Timothy Ramara and Maurice Onyango. Sandagi will battle Karugu in the deputy president’s contest.
The secretary general’s post has attracted four candidates — Anthony Mwanzia, Godfrey Wamalwa, Joan Adalo and Daniel Njenga.
Hellen Ng’ethe and Joseph Ndiku have been cleared to vie for the deputy secretary general’s post.
University of Nairobi duo of Kinoti and Raphael Kithuka will face off for the treasurer’s post while Juma MacDonald is unopposed in the deputy treasurer’s race.
Hillary Mukasa of Kenya Methodist University (KEMU) and Ali Mbaraka of Moi University will battle for the public relations officer’s post.
