Taita Taveta residents are facing water shortage after rivers and dams dried up due to the ongoing drought.

They have resorted to digging wells in the riverbeds and queueing for long hours at the few available water points.

In Wundanyi sub county, some are forced to walk for 15 kilometres to fetch water at a borehole dug by the Catholic Church at Kishushe area.

This is after the Kishenyi Dam dried up.

The residents have urged the government to dig more boreholes in the area to help them fight water scarcity.
