Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa has weighed in on the roles of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and that of the newly created office of Prime Cabinet Secretary.
President William Ruto named ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi as the prime CS.
Speaking in an interview with K24 on Wednesday, Didmus said their roles are not the same and Gachagua is on top hierarchically.
"I don't see any publication. I say so because the president, made it very clear that after him there is Gachagua and after he is the prime cabinet secretary in the hierarchy."
"He simply said that the roles being played by Mudavadi would be monitored by deputy president so that is not duplication."
Barasa said it could only be a problem if they were both on the same level in the government with the same roles.
"It could only be a problem if at all by any chance if Gachagua and Mudavadi are of the same possession on the organogram, but Rigathi will be above the rest," he said.
He said this following the appointment of Mudavadi to the top cabinet position by Ruto, as he unveiled the names of the men and women he has nominated to sit in his Cabinet.
A section of politicians claimed Gachagua and Mudavadi’s roles might overlap and occassion clash.
Mudavadi awaits a vetting process by a parliamentary committee before being sworn into office.
