President William Ruto on Wednesday formally welcomed six newly appointed diplomats to Kenya.
The submission of credentials by the diplomats at State
House, Nairobi, signaled the start of their official engagements in Kenya.
The newly appointed envoys include Moravia Peralta Hernandez
from Venezuela, Alfred Musemuna from Zambia, Vsevolod Tkachenko from Russia,
Hiroshi Matsuura from Japan, Sahak Sargsyan from Armenia, and Andris Razans
from Latvia.
President Ruto highlighted Kenya's commitment to broadening its diplomatic reach and strengthening relationships with international partners," Ruto said.
"Kenya will steadily engage with other countries,
widening and consolidating its global diplomatic networks to achieve our shared
aspirations,” he stated.
The President underscored that these relationships are vital
for promoting economic growth, fostering peace and stability, and enhancing
cross-border trade and investments.
“Our warm and solid ties with foreign partners will
effectively promote economic growth, enhance peace and stability, and further
cross-border trade and investments,” he said.
Prior to her current appointment, Ambassador Peralta-Hernandez served as Permanent Representative to the United Nations Programme (UNEP), the United Nations Human Settlement Programme (UN-Habitat) and the East African Community.
Ambassador Musemuna was the Charge
D'Affairs at the Zambian High Commission in Nairobi before his current posting.
Vsevolod Tkachenko from Russia has previously represented
the Russian Federation in diplomatic postings to Uganda, Zimbabwe, Greece,
South Africa, Ethiopia and the African Union.
Ambassador Matsuura has also served in various diplomatic
postings to Malaysia, the United Kingdom and Latin America prior to coming to
Nairobi.
Similarly, Ambassador Sargsyan served as Armenia's envoy to
Ethiopia and Rwanda before being posted to Kenya.
Ambassador Razans has been the diplomatic advisor to the
President of Latvia and ambassador to Latvia and Denmark prior to his posting
in Kenya.
