Police are investigating an incident where a decomposed body of a 60-year-old man was found in a borehole in Kalima Upepo area, Bamburi, Mombasa County.

The man is said to have slipped into the 60-foot deep borehole or been killed and dumped there.

The body was later identified as that of James Tabulei, 60.

Locals said the borehole was in use and they had been disturbed by a foul smell from the water.

A rescue team from Mombasa County was called to the scene and retrieved the body from the borehole.

Officials said it did not have any visible injuries at the time of retrieval.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and investigations.

In Nambale, Busia County, the body of Leonard Ouma Wabwire was found in a borehole.

Police said Wabwire, 38, went missing on April 6 before the body was discovered in the borehole of a neighbour two days later.

In Juja, Kiambu County, a 15-year-old boy drowned in Thika River while on a swimming expedition.

Police said the boy was in the company of his friends when the incident happened on Wednesday evening.

Elsewhere in Navakholo, Kakamega County, the body of one Hellen Nakaya Wasike, 67, was found in a stream after a drowning incident.

Locals had reported the woman was missing after she was swept downstream in Musagaa village.

They then mounted a search before the body was found trapped within stones in the water.

The woman was still holding her handbag when the body was found and retrieved.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and investigations.

Police said they are investigating the incidents, and local experts are handling them.
