The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has established strict rules for voters and political parties to ensure order and security during the Ol Kalou by-election.

IEBC Chairperson Erastus Ethekon announced that voters are strictly prohibited from photographing their marked ballot papers. Those who violate this rule face severe consequences, with offenders risking a fine of up to Sh1 million.

To prevent overcrowding and maintain order at the voting centres, the commission requires all voters to leave the polling station immediately after casting their votes.

Political parties and candidates must also adhere to tight regulations regarding representation and conduct at the polling centers.

Each candidate is permitted only one agent per polling station. Additionally, super agents and unauthorised persons are not allowed to roam around the polling stations, and only accredited individuals will be granted access to these secure areas.

To maintain neutrality on polling day, individuals are strictly prohibited from wearing political party attire at any polling station.

Through these measures, the commission intends to safeguard the transparency and integrity of the local by-election.
