Boy, 12, stabs another over pets

The week has been marred with cases of stabbings, some of which involved teenagers.

In one of the incidences, a 16-year-old boy was stabbed and killed in a quarrel over pets in Eldoret.

The suspected killer, a 12-year-old, is said to have stabbed the other in the chest using a kitchen knife.

Police said the two argued over possession of the doves they had apparently bought as pets.

The police officers and villagers said the assailant allegedly reached for the knife and stabbed the victim in the left side of the chest.

The 16-year-old succumbed to injuries while being rushed to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital.

The suspect has since been arrested as the body of the deceased was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and other procedures.

Shiners Boys stabbing incident

In another incident, a KCSE candidate at Shiners Boys in Nakuru was stabbed to death by another student.

The suspect had been allowed back to the school after suspension due to disciplinary issues.

The security officials said four candidates were reported to have differed over personal items destroyed in school, leading to the incident that happened at about 8 pm.

The altercation resulted in the stabbing and killing.

Police said the victim was rushed to Nakuru Level 6 Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

The police have since arrested eight students as investigations into the fatal stabbing continue.

Gilgil Sub-County Commander Winstone Mwakio said one of the suspects was found with several rolls of bhang in his jacket pocket.

The student had been expelled from a school in Nairobi before his parents secured a vacancy at Shiners.

Nakuru County Commissioner Loyford Kibaara said out of the eight, five of them are doing their exams in the Mbaruk police post; the other three arrested initially are in the Gilgil police station.

Police are trying to establish the credibility of claims that the key suspect used a broken piece of glass to stab the deceased.

The murder weapon is yet to be found, although initial reports had indicated that the stab wound was inflicted by a knife.
