Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has asked the young generation in the country to register as voters.

He lauded the Gen Zs for engaging in civic education on social media adding that it is good but not enough.

Speaking on Saturday in Kirinyaga, the former DP said that it is only through the ballot that they can help liberate the country.

“What you are doing on social media is good but not enough; the actual transformation of this great republic will be on the ballot. The public awareness transformation using the smartphone is good but the real and final transformation of getting a good country with good leaders will be on the ballot,” Gachagua said.

“I ask the Gen Zs to register as voters and come out and vote. If they do they will have completed the journey for us. It is their patriotic duty to make sure they have IDs and have registered as voters.”

The former DP spoke when he met Narc Kenya Party Leader Martha Karua at her home in Kirinyaga.

Gachagua vowed to work with Karua saying the leadership will benefit with her extensive experience in politics.

“We have had a good conversation with Karua and we have agreed going forward we are going to work together with other Kenyans. I want to assure you that many Kenyans are looking for leadership. We will work together with like-minded Kenyans, patriots and people who care for this country,” Gachagua said.

The former DP expressed joy saying he will be a happy man for uniting with the Narc  Kenya Party leader.

Gachagua said that Karua has the necessary experience, and courage and will help the Mt Kenya region move forward.

“We shall benefit a lot from her counsel, we will consult her regularly alongside other Kenyans of goodwill so that we liberate this country," he said.

Karua expressed confidence in the combination of the efforts of the two leaders saying it will be a great force.

Karua said that every person of goodwill should join hands in demanding accountability.

"Today is a great day. we have joined hands with my brother Gachagua, and a journey of uniting and liberating Kenya has begun. We are going to join with people from different regions and areas in the country," Karua said.
