Mother, son sustain serious burns in Dandora fire

A 30-year-old mother and her son aged three years were seriously burnt in a fire incident in Nairobi’s Dandora area.

The fire also burnt and destroyed a number of structures in Dandora Phase 4, police said.

The woman was injured as she rushed to the burning house to rescue the boy in the Wednesday night incident.

Locals joined in the efforts to contain the spread of the fire before engines from the county arrived and helped.

The victims were both rushed to Mama Lucy Hospital where the mother is being attended while her son has been referred to Kenyatta National Hospital for further attention.

Police said they are investigating the cause of the fire.

Meanwhile, a man was stoned to death after he was allegedly found stealing solar panels in Mavueni, Kilifi County.

The body was moved to Kilifi County Referral Hospital for identification and postmortem examination.

Police said they are investigating the incident and had opened a murder probe.

Elsewhere, police in Kisumu are investigating an incident where a man was badly injured and robbed of his laptop, cash and other household goods.

The victim sustained two deep cuts on the head and was immediately rushed to Avenue Hospital for treatment, police said.

The attackers had raided a residential area for the mission.

They also robbed other tenants before escaping with the loot. Police said they are looking for the gang.

In Ongatat Rongai, Kajiado County, a gang attacked an M-PESA attendant and robbed her of Sh40,000.

The victim told police the gang of three was armed with a pistol which they showed her warning her against raising an alarm.

The gang escaped soon after the robbery on Wednesday night. Efforts to trace the gang are ongoing, police said.
